In the 1990's, Pingxi Town in southwest China relies on a local militia for security Li Lizhong, the captain of the militia, is shaken by the sudden and mysterious death of his father followed by a series of bizarre dog killings in town. Li Lizhong embarks on a chaotic search for the truth and as the absurd investigation unfolds, he gradually uncovers a hidden connection between the dog killings and his father’s death.
